INVITATIONS
We offer Wedding Invitations in a). Hand Engraved, b). Machine
Engraved, and c). Thermography. These processes have individual
characteristics, and we would like to give a brief description
of each. There is also a large choice of weight and colour of card
which we are always happy to discuss and provide samples free of
charge.
All our prices include a proof and matching envelopes.

Hand Engraved. This is the purest form of printing. It
involves work by a skilled engraver, etching the text in relief
into a copper plate with hand held tools. The printing is then
done by coating the engraved plate with ink and compressing the
paper between the copper plate and a steel die. This is done under
great pressure and creates an indentation on the back of the paper.
Engraving the copper plate represents a one off expense. It can
however be polished and used as an attractive souvenir for setting
in a table top, tray or dish.

Thermography. This is a more recent innovation, and involves
applying heat and powder to the wet print. The effect is to raise
the print on the surface of the paper while at the same time leaving
no indentation on the back. This process saves the cost of an engraved
plate and is popular and economical for that reason.
