Save the date for my destination wedding

Thursday, 17 May 2012 11:40

For most guests a destination wedding means scheduling time off work, booking a flight, organising accomodations and possibly even arranging child care so the more time you can give people the better! There are no hard and fast rules for save the date cards and as a result they are your chance to have some fun and be creative! Above is a picture of a save the date luggage tag we created for a wedding in Bali next year.

Wedding Shows

Wednesday, 05 October 2011 10:20

It is wedding show season. Two weeks ago I was at the lovely Nonsuch Palace -- so called because it was claimed there was no such palace anywhere equal to its magnificence. It certainly was quite spectacular. This week I will be in London at The Designer Bridal Show -- but this time I will be a spectator rather than a participant. As we plan our activities for 2012, I would be interested to hear from you if you find wedding shows helpful and if so which ones are your favourite and why.

Wedding Thank You Letters

Tuesday, 03 May 2011 13:36

What a day! Now that the festivities are over the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge must see to the task of writing their thank you letters. Luckily, for them they will have some help from the Palace staff but for those without the good fortune to have back office support, here are our top tips for writing wedding thank you letters:

  1. Be Prompt - etiquette dictates that all thank you should be written soon after the wedding and/or the receipt of a gift
  2. Make it personal - a generic thank you will not do, you need to make people truly feel you appreciate their presence at the wedding and the contribution they have made
  3. Share one of your highlights - this could be a favourite photograph from the day or a little anecdote that sums up the emotions you felt
There is really no hard and fast rule about what stationery to write your thank you letters on... traditionalists may opt for writing paper with their new married address, the design diva may have specially printed cards that match her wedding invitations, the sentimentalist may prefer a photograph card with the image of the couple whilst the pragmatist may choose to pick up some pretty notecards off the shelf - the choice is yours.

The Royal Wedding Invitation

Monday, 21 February 2011 20:56

An invitation sets the tone of an event and lets guests know what to expect - as well as providing recipients with the necessary logistical information. With a die stamped EIIR cypher, gold bevelled edge and crisp printing on a heavy ivory card, the Royal Wedding invitation ensures there is no mistaking that this is a formal event of great importance.

Another invitation will follow for the dinner to be held for close friends and family of Prince William and Kate Middleton. I would expect something slightly less formal - but still quite classic - to reflect their individual style and the private nature of the event. At CLD we call these invitations "traditional with a twist".
