The Font Game

Friday, 20 April 2012 16:54

This Easter my family and I travelled around Vietnam. Many hours were spent on planes and trains and when the scenery disappeared we turned to the iPad to entertain us.  Sadly, as a family we spent way too much time competing for the highest score on Fruit Ninja but since that doesn't really relate to a blog about stationery, I will spare you the details and instead confess to also playing (not always very well much to the disappointment of my daughters) The Font Game by ilovetypography.com. The Font Game is actually more of a rapid fire quiz where you are asked to correctly identify 34 fonts. For those who think they know their fonts this game will test your knowledge as well as increase it along the way! Give it a go and if that doesn't excite you then I can always recommend Fruit Ninja!

Time for a Christmas celebration

Thursday, 01 December 2011 12:14

Budget deficits, talks of a double dip recession and worker strikes -- definitely not a good news week! When all the news is so gloomy many people might feel that this year is not the year to have a Christmas party. But I think the opposite -- that this year, more than ever people need to get together to remember and celebrate all the things we have to be thankful for. Christmas parties don't need to be a lavish affair. Of course, we think an invitation is still a nice way to create anticipation. In a nod to the current climate we have introduced Christmas ready-write-to invitations in three different styles. The invitations sell in economical packs of 12 cards and envelopes for £15.

Invitations that make an impression

Friday, 01 July 2011 12:19

The Evening Standard this week ran an article about the return of the "stiffies" -- that is ultra thick invitations that have become très popular with the fashion set. To be honest, at CLD heavy invitations have never been out of style and unlike the invitations mentioned in the article we offer luxurious 540gsm invitations in a rainbow of colours for as low as £2.85 per card!

Pour memoire

Sunday, 13 February 2011 23:38

Of course, as far as I am concerned an e-invite is always a poor substitution for the real thing but I do understand that sometimes  you just need to quickly inform your guests about an event and an e-invite is one of the fastest and easiest ways to do so. My problem is I also find it just as quick to forget. I need something more physical to remind me of an upcoming event so for me the "pour memoire" is the perfect compromise. It seems I am not alone as we've seen a growing trend in these handy reminder cards.
